Hinterland is a family of large scale paintings depicting variations of fauna and flora. Hybrid flowers and imaginary animals entwine into a sea of thick oil brush strokes evoking a fairy tale that might as well become a purgatory.

Enter this garden carefully. You never know what you might find. You may be drawn in by the lush vegetation, the deep, thick, hairy brushstrokes, and most certainly the pyrotechnics, but, be cautious. Do not be tricked by the presence of the venerable shaman Joseph Beuys. I hear he is abetting Irini in her fantasy world, facilitating her enticing Informal Garden reality where legs grow like flowers and birds easily perch upside down. Naughty references to playful exchanges that end (at least to my dirty mind) in fireworks explosions, can hardly be innocent little girls hard at play. No, don’t let Beuys fool you.
